Of course, "bum" means something different in the US to what it means in Britain ...
I sometimes see people wearing these and I think if you have one you can be considered a geek unless you are a litte kid or a parent where Im from.

we call them bum bags i was only in the 90s for 6 years but we never called them fannybags i used 2 have a blue 1 with teddy bears on =]

Hulk Hogan STILL wears one--one of his Hogan Knows Best shows, Linda & Brooke tried to revamp his style & got him a new man purse, but he hated it & thru it into the mall water fountain to go back to his trusty ol' fanny pack! So cute!
well i think that the fad was a little tacky.
but now when you see how people change it up with the different styles on them it doesn't seem that bad.
they even have north face ones, and all the guys have them.

pretty sure they rock! even if just worn in a mocking kind of way haha. bur all the FOB's at school wear em only not around their waist but accross their torso. im goin 2 europe this year with school n we want them just to be funny and be tourists hahah funnn

I think they were more popular in the 80's than the 90's.

I had 2 of them when I was a kid, a furry baby bop one I got in 1997 and a pink nylon one with butterflies I got in 1998.
Man, those were convenient for carrying around my lipsmacker collection... and my beanie babies, lol.

I still have one. My mom brought it at Target for me for Christmas 5 years ago. It's a black one and I use it.

my dad used to have an orange one hahaha and a green one, and my older brother matt had a blue one he was only 5. I see pictures of it back then. Never again please. :)
I had a purple one with Winnie the Pooh on the front. I used to put all my coins in it when I went to garage sales with my Pa. Now they're horrible!
This is one fashion I remember that I'm definitely glad was left in the past.
There are so many pictures of my mom with neon colored fanny pack (80s) and then 90's with black windbreaker material. They were so hideous but tbh very practical lol. It kept their credit cards, cigarettes, id's, and chunky camera.
Oh I remember everyone where these at disney world and even though I was like 6 I hated them! At a garage sale a couple weeks ago my mom got me a fanny pack that doubled as a windbreaker I wanna burn it! But yet I kinda love it...but this is a style I am glad to see go
Fashionable or not, I use one at work because I can fasten it to my seat, and no one tries to steal it. I drive a school bus.
These were popular at the end of the 80s and the earliest 90s, meant to be worn at the back like competitive cyclists but always worn at the front. Popular about the same time skin-tight bike shorts were popular. Practical, too, really.
