They weren't mehndi [Proper spelling].. Mehndi is an Asian 'Hawsonia inermis' [A shrub found in Iran, India, Pakistan, Egypt and North Africa] ..of which the young leaves and twigs are ground into fine powder, then mixed with water and applied on the hands, feet and hair to give them a reddish-orange color. It is generally used for special occasions, particularly Asian weddings. Kirstie I remember exactly what your talking about. Most the designs if I remember correctly were tribal and swirly and were generally a pure black colour.

latasha... mehndi is used in indian weddings, not in asian weddings, it is the traditional hindi body markings that are used in weddings, and other special occasions. it is not however mixed with just water, although water is in there... mehndi is also kow as henna... and its stil very popular today.. oh yeah... henna designs are done in brown...just sayin'

I've done mhendi before, but I'd just rather get a tattoo. It's pretty, but I like something more permanent.
