Designed to compete with the BK Whopper (who came out with the Big King to compete with the Big Mac). Lettuce, tomatoe, onions, cheese and a spiced up patty. Replaced the Arch Deluxe, which was a replacement for the McDLT. Big Xtra was recently replaced with the Big n Tasty, which was the same but based on the smaller Quarter Pounder patty.

I used to eat these suckers religiously back in my hayday. I remember the last one I ate because I got sick and threw up later that night! I think I was a sophomore or junior in high school. I seriously think they took it off the menu when I stopped ordering it - as I was potentially the number one consumer.
The Quarter Pounder is always good but this was better. Can never have enough McDonald's!
I am outraged that they have taken it off the menu. I loved it. It was my favorite. Nothing is the same. :(
I'm a former MickeeD's employee, I remember how to make it. The meat was HUGE, before you grill it, you put seasoning on the patty and it would permeate the whole patty. I got them free when I was in the breakroom. Yummy!!!
There were sooo good, the best product McDonald's ever had. It tasted like a burger you would get at the diner or a steakhouse. It was a really exceptional product and I remember the veggies were always cold and fresh.
I had forgotten the name of this one and finally remembered it just now. It was my fave McD's burger for years, I literally hadn't tasted a Big Mac or anything else on the menu its entire run. It had the seasoned patty, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and most importantly -- mayo & ketchup, nothing else. It was SUCH a good burger! I can't imagine why they'd discontinue it :/
