The following are comments left about Ramen noodles from site visitors such as yourself. They are not spell checked or reviewed for accuracy. The best flavor in the late 90s was Creamy Chicken... they don't make it anymore :(
I ate a bowl of top ramen every single day summer of 1998....but those were around long before the 90s I thought.....My fave was the creamy chicken too. And the Sesame Chicken with the little pack of sesame oil! yum!
Growing up poor, this was served way to often for my tastebuds! But it was affprdable. Haves you ever had the hook up? I would add cheese tuna fish and a sliced boiled egg and maybe hot sauce and it was a party in my mouth!
I cant stand this brick type ramen noodles, so I eat them dry with just a sprinkle of the package mixed in. I think its good. I like the ramen in the cup better.
I used to eat this or Kraft dinner almost every day after school.
Oh yeah! The possibilities are ENDLESS with ramen, they even have cook books FOR ramen! and at $.25 how can you pass it up!
They still sell the Creamy Chicken ramen noodles at Super Kmart stores and I think Krogers sells them. I bought some at Super Kmart today.
Best snack ever at school smash the bag of dry noodles up and sprinkle the season packet on there and shake. It had enogh msg to put down a small hippo but soooo good
I am glad to see I am not the only one who does not like the brick kind as a soup, I will eat it dry but to make the hot soup I gotta get the cups. I think I like the instant cook noodles the boil in pan ones get too soggy and I love the noodles to be almost uncooked just barely soft I instantly don't like them if they are soft. Cup O Noodles Wonton hot and sour are the opposite however I must have them extremely soft. I add green onion, radish and ginger !!!
I agree. Creamy chicken is amazing. I could always get them at kroger in Texas, but when I moved to Delaware I was bummed they didn't sell it. Although if you make it according tonpackagr directions, after you strain the water out of it add a splash of milk, add the seasoning and put it back on the heat and stir it for just a sec it's exactly the same.
There's all kinds of brands that sell Ramen noodles but I really prefer the cup over the bagged Ramen. Chicken is an excellent choice, whereas they also have beef, shrimp, spicy & hot flavors, and even cheese Ramen noodles.
What ever happened to the ramen noodles in the 90's where it came with a packet of oil, seasoning, and a really thick soy packet? My favorite was called Indonesian style. I need to have this again! Doesn't anyone remember this? I think they even had a Thai style one. I thought it was by Maruchan, but I could be wrong. It came in a brick like the usual. But after adding the little packets to the noodles it made it very savory and sticky. The Indonesian flavored one did this anyway.
I always loved these mostly shrimp, oriental, and creamy chicken. Where I live they sell creamy chicken still which is actually amazing since you can't ever normally find anything at my walmart easily.
Maruchan discontinued my all-time favorite flavor, Mushroom. It came in a grey package and was so delicious. My mom always had this waiting for me after grade school. She'd put egg, lettuce, fish sauce, and chili flakes in it. Ahh, so good. They make like a chicken-mushroom flavor still, but it's definitely not the same. I also liked the Creamy chicken, and roast beef flavors.
This is convenient lunch after work. still not healthy I like to add green onions and dill to it
I remember as a kid eatin beef noodles that had little cows on the sauce packets and little chickens on the chicken sauce packs durin this time maruchan Roman noodles were considered the cheap ones but now they are the name brand ones
To Christii: I remember those ramen noodles that came with the little double packets of oil/onion together & the other packet of really thick teriyaki sauce. Those were the best, I bought them when I was a sophomore in high school in early 1992 - then I could never find them again. I would love to see a pic of the package or even just figure out what brand those were. I can find no info about those on the internet, they just disappeared and left a big hole in my heart...and stomach. lol
They sell those Indonesian ones at Smith's Food & Drug stores. I buy them all the time.. they're THE best! They're on the international aisle
To: the ones with the oil packet were sesame. Purple packaging. Anyone recall garden vegetable? Light sea green packaging? I cannot find any trace of it on the internet, and I forget if it was top ramen or the other one but it was bomb!
Hi RJ and everyone who remembers these noodles: The noodles that came with the oil/onion + thick sweet soy sauce packets from the early '90s, I used to buy in Southern California at regular chain grocery stores. There were maybe three different varieties...someone mentioned Thai and Indonesian, which would make sense because these Indonesian ramen noodles with the packets still exist and are very popular, they are called Mi Goreng. But I want to know which brand I remember from the early 90s. I remember the plastic packaging had a metal foil-effect, and there was crimson/dark red on the package, and I also remember sea-foam green, like maybe the writing or something was that color. It's driving me crazy to not have any images of these noodles on the internet and no official mentions of them. They were so delicious and unique at that time. Then they went away. If anyone remembers what brand these noodles were or has any information or pictures, please email me: Anywherelift@hotmail.com
RJ, I remember garden vegetable ramen! It was my all time favorite. I can't remember the brand either. 😂
OMG the garden vegetable RJ. YES that was my favorite! I can't remember when it stopped being available, but I ate a lot if it in the 80s. (Ramen has been around since 1971 I think) I once emailed nissin to ask what happened to it, and they did not know what I was talking about. I am 90% sure it WAS nissin who made it. I think thats the only brand my mom bought..
Does anyone remember the French onion flavor? I can’t remember what brand though!
I could have sworn that back in the day they used to recommend you to drain and add butter, it now does not say that.
In the 90's, there was a brand called samyang ramen noodles. the package had a checkered design. the best flavor, to me, was oriental, then pork, them mushroom. one day they were discontinued and i can't seem to fine them anywhere. If i could, i would buy every pack in existence.
