This is a list of famous people in the 90s, people that helped to define the decade. I am not looking for celebrities, I am listing people who were important in politics and news.

  • Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette is a singer and song writer from Ottawa, Canada. She went from being a teeny bopper at the tender age of 17 to being ruthless and unbearing to the opposite sex. Her 1995 release, Jagged Little Pill, proved to the world that this shy and awkward little girl was ready to lash out and face her emotions head on. She had a monster hit with her song, "You Oughta Know" and Jagged Little Pill stayed on top for a record 26 weeks and winning her countless awards including 8 Grammies, 5 Junos, 2 MTV Awards, 1 MTV Europe Award, and 4 Billboard awards. Alanis broke the record for the most weeks at #1 for the top selling solo female act, a record which was held by Whitney Houston! Incredible for someone who's only 27 yeas old isn't it?

  • Bill Clinton
The 42nd president of the US. Inaugerated January of 1993. Re-elected in 1996. Monica Lewinsky scandal revealed in 1998 causing a permanent scar on his presidency. Impeached by the House of Representatives in 1999 but not the Senate. Dishonesty earned him the nickname "Slick Willy." Very charismatic speaker who saved the US from the recession of the early 90s.

  • Jonathon Larson
Jonathon was the man who wrote and composed the Pulitzer Prize winning musical Rent, which is basically about young life in the 1990's. It dealt with issues like AIDS, heroin addiction, as well as classical themes like love and departure. It's a cool musical that really spoke to many youths in the 1990's.

  • Kurt Cobain
Kurt Cobain shot himself on April 5,94.He pretty much defined the 90's,with his grungy hair, grungy clothes, and grungy Seatlle music. He left behind his wife,Courtney Love, and a daughter,Frances Bean.

  • Selena Quintanilla Perez
She opened the doors for women in Tejano Music and is also one of the reasons Jennifer Lopez is what she is now. After her death in March 31, 1995, her music is still heard all the time. Unfortunately, she died right when her cross-over album came out, not to many Americans (not-Hispanic) knew her. She left behind a husband who is making his way in life after suffering.

  • Shannon Hoon
Shannon Hoon was the singer for the alternative band Blind Melon. He pretty much defined a decade where people can have fun and be serious at the same time. Shannon died from a drug overdose on October 22, 1995 leaving his girl-friend and infant daughter behind.

  • Yitzhak Rabin
The Prime Minister of Isreal, the first leader to acutally try making and maintaining peace with neighborng Arab nations. Rabin was shot in 1995 while leaving a peace rally. The murderer was surprisingly not a member of Palestinian Liberation Org. but a Jewish extremist who hated PLO.
