I have not found a cereal to come close the taste of Fortified Oat Flakes since they were discontinued. (Late 80's, early 90's?). it is one of my all-time favorite foods. Other oat flakes, (when you can actually find real flakes and not the so called "nuggets") just don't have that FLAVOR–soggy, semi-soggy, crunchy–you could not ruin the taste. Arrowhead Mills comes as close as any manufacturer that I know of to making a decent oat flake, but they are a pale imitation of the real thing. I too still crave this cereal and think about it more often than is probably healthy. To this day I wander the cereal isle with a sense of loss. Every post on this site is spot on! The irony in this whole thing is that it seemed like FOF were discontinued just before the big "oat bran boom" in the '90's, when they could have found a "new audience" with the health food types. I don't know what Post was thinking. Surely a good marketing campaign could have saved this great cereal. I can't believe there are like minded souls out there!! I will bookmark this site and gladly participate in any movement to bring them back!!
