I wore Tommy Hilfiger clothes as far back as 1991 when I got two Oxford button downs (one blue, one green) from Bloomingdale's for Christmas from my dad- they were $60 each! I didn't know too many other high school age kids who had them, I just asked for them because I liked the shirts and they were high quality (THEN)- still have them and a few more of the good, early 90's shirts and sweaters. Then within a year or so- mainstream. I believe that there WAS an inferior line of Hilfiger that was sold in less upscale stores (not Lord & Taylor or Bloomingdale's). Also, some of the designs got a little loud and odd for my taste. I did have some interesting shirts- where one side was blue Oxford and the other green, and another that was a button down with wide horizontal blue stripes trimmed in red on a white background.
