In October golfer Payne Stewart and five others die when their private plane flies halfway across the country on auto-pilot and crashes into a field in South Dakota
- John F. Kennedy Jr.
In July, Kennedy's plane crashes off the waters of Martha's Vineyard, killing him, his wife and his sister in-law
- Mary-Kay Bergman
November 29,1999: Mary-Kay Bergman, aka Shanen Cassidy, took her own life. Her body was discovered in her appartment. She died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her chest. She was 38 years old. Bergman was best known for her role in South Park voicing all of the female characters.
- Greg Moore
Canadian race car driver Greg Moore died in 1999 after his car slamed into a concrete medium. Moore was air lifted to an LA hospital and died from his injuries the next day.
- Mel Torrme
Died from a stroke in March of 1999
- Walter Payton
NFL's all-time leading rusher,died Nov. 1 1999 at about 1p.m.
- Owen Hart
WWF professional wrestler, died after riding a zipline down to the ring and the line snapped and his head hit the ring post.
- Stanley Kubrick
One of America's greatest filmmakers, Stanley Kubrick died on March 7, 1999, of natural causes, at his home in Hertfordshire, England. Kubrick's four-decade career spawned some of the most memorable, acclaimable films of our time: "Paths of Glory" (1957), "Spartacus" (1960), "Dr. Strangelove.." (1964), "A Clockwork Orange" (1971), "The Shining" (1980), and "Full Metal Jacket" (1987). His films, which often took years to make and included themes of tension and dehumanization, have achieved near-national-treasure status. He was nominated for 4 Best Director Oscars, and didn't win a single one. He died just days after completing his final film, the erotic drama "Eyes Wide Shut", with husband-wife couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
- Deforest Kelley
Played Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy on the original "Star Trek". Died on June 11 after a long illness. After his death, his catchphrase "He's dead, Jim" became very ironic.
- King Huessen of Jordan
Ruler of Jordan. Died of leukimia in late spring of 1999. His eldest son was chosen as his successor. All of Jordan was in mourning as soon as news of the King's death was heard. Some said that King Huessen was their mentor and saviour.
- Ed Gillbert
Died of lung cancer in May of 1999.
- Gar Samuelson
Original Megadeth drummer, died of liver failure.

The former different strokes actress died May 8, 99 of a drug overdose.
- Rick Danko
Rick Danko was the bassist for the 60's group The Band. He died 11 December of 1999, of a heart attack
- Madeline Kahn
Madeline was a very funny woman who stared in most of Mel Brooks hilarious films. Anyone who has seen Young Frankenstien, Blazing Saddles or History of the World Pt 1 will know exactly who i'm talking about. She died on the 10th December 1999 after losing her battle with ovarian cancer.
- Mario Puzo
Mario Puzo was the author of The Godfather. He died on July 2nd 1999
- Michelle Thomas
Best known for her role as Maxine on the TV sit-com Family Matters. She died of stomach cancer in December of 1999.
- Wilt Chamberlain
Wilt died October 12, 1999 at the age of 63, after suffering an apparent Heart Attack in his Bel-Air mansion. Wilt was the NBA Rookie of the Year & MVP in 1959... and was MVP in 66-69. He Was an NBA Hall of Famer and the NBA's Leading Scorer as well as known for being quite the Ladies' Man.. quoted to of made love to 20,000 women in his life.
