    By: charles tupper
    • 10. There's Something About Mary
without a doubt the funniest movie of all time.
    • 9. Braveheart
    • 8. The Usual Suspects
    • 7. The English Patient
    • 6. Silence of The Lambs
the best performance of hopkin's career. same with foster.
    • 5. Schindler's List
the only great movie from an overated director.
    • 4. Goodfellas
the last great movie from scorcesee.
    • 3. The Shawshank Redemption
    • 2. Fargo
i cant beleive no one put this on their lists. the coen brothers are amazing and this is their best.
    • 1. Pulp Fiction
this is an obvious choice for #1. One of the most influential films of all time

    By: Lauren L.
    • 10. Titanic
People. Give it up. It was a good movie that it became cool to bash. I think by now we can all clear our heads and admit that it was a damn good movie. Yes, Leonardo DiCaprio sucked (see my next entry for a rave about his previous acting skills) but other than that, it had great production values and the rest of the cast was good.
    • 9. What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
I admit it -- I'm a Johnny Depp freak. He's the best actor of his generation, you must admit. The movie captures what it's supposed to capture perfectly -- the snapshot of a week in a small, boring town. And the very end always leaves me with a good feeling.
    • 8. Benny and Joon
I love, love, love this movie. It's so cute and just fun. Johnny Depp's performance is truly great -- he really does remind one of the old silent film stars. And the end shot, with Sam and Joon ironing the sandwiches as the camera moves away, "I'm Gonna Be" playing in the background . . . my all-time favorite ending shot.
    • 7. Edward Scissorhands.
Still Tim Burton's masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned. "Big Fish" was great, but this one just edges it out. Also, this movie proved the conspiracy theorists right -- Johnny Depp deserved an Oscar for this, and it's a travesty that he didn't get it.
    • 6. Philadelphia
Tom Hanks deserved that Oscar. Boy, did he. He and Denzel Washington took the heartbreaking story and made it even more heartbreaking. I hope this movie made some people think about discrimination and if they were a part of it.
    • 5. Dogma
Absolutely brilliant. Kevin Smith is a genius. To the average viewer who is just sitting there waiting to be offended, it's offending. But if you really watch it, it actually has some pretty good ideas and it might make you think.
    • 4. Singles
Okay, yeah, I just love the setting and the subplot. The relationship between Linda and Steve is boring as hell. But the relationship between Cliff and Janet is utterly engrossing, maybe because their characters are much more interesting. Plus how could you not love a movie set in Seattle in the early '90s, with a soundtrack featuring everyone except Nirvana, and with appearances by Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Tad Doyle, and Chris Cornell? I guess I love it because it's a snapshot of a place and time.
    • 3. Pulp Fiction
Quentin Tarantino annoys the hell out of me. That said, he's a brilliant filmmaker. The four parts interweave seamlessly, and when the beginning meets the end, there's this moment where you sit there and go "Ohhhh!" And that's what makes the movie great.
    • 2. Forrest Gump
It's just so epic, how could you not love it? Tom Hanks did such a great job, and so did Sally Field, Robin Wright Penn, and Gary Sinise. It was a feel-good movie, but a well-done feel-good movie. One of those extremely rare ones that's better than the book.
    • 1. Good Will Hunting
Tied with "The Breakfast Club" for my favorite movie of all time. It's such a beautiful and inspiring story, and I love the setting (I have this thing for Boston). Ben and Matt deserved that Oscar.

    • 3. The Big Lebowski
The best Coen brothers film. The Dude is one of the greatest characters ever.
    • 2. American Beauty
Really amazing script! Kevin Spacy is awesome in this movie. Very interesting thoughts and views about life in the suberbs.
    • 1. Pulp Fiction
Best direction ever in film history!!! Amazing script and the best cast ever in a movie. Tarantino is a genius. Every time I watch it i see something new! The ultimate bad ass movie.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the Friday Movies
    By: Jesse
    • 10. Toy Story
Landmark in how we use animation.
    • 9. American Beauty
Good enough to be top 10
    • 8. Silence of the Lambs
Couldn't take my eyes my of the movie, it's just that good.

    • 6. The Matrix
      Very entertaining action film.
    • 5. Braveheart
Mel Gibson did an awesome job with this movie.
    • 4. Shawshank Redemption
One of my all time favorites. I love this quote that Andy Duffraine says near the end of the movie, "get busy living or get busy dyeing." Fantastic movie.
    • 3. Saving Private Ryan
Very powerful and educational (in a way) movie about WWII.
    • 2. Schindler's List
Another very powerful movie that deserves to be at the top.
    • 1. Forest Gump
The best movie of the 90's. There is so much history that is presented in this movie and they show it in great ways. It's also the best film for Tom Hanks, and that right there is saying a lot.

    • 1. Can't Hardley Wait
It seems to me that it was the movie that started 90's teen movies It's a classic

    By: Brandon Flaherty
    • 10. Saving Private Ryan
Beautifully made epic war movie. Hanks is moving and believable as a leader. I'd follow him into battle. I'll see you on the beach!
    • 9. Good Will Hunting
Brilliant movie about a disturbed genius. Damon is awesome in what was his first starring role. Williams plays a great supporting role. You like apples? Well I got her number. How you like them apples?
    • 8. Dazed and Confused
A movie about growing up in the 70s that kids of the 90s can relate too. Awesome soundtrack with lots of young stars around including Affleck(Fah-Q) and Matt McConnehaegh (know clue how to spell that). Alls I'm saying is if I ever start referring to these as the greatest days of my life, remind me to kill myself.
    • 7. Silence of the Lambs
Straight up scary. Hopkins is easily believable as the Dahmer type. Great scene with the night-vision goggles too. I ate him with some farva beans and a nice bottle of kianti.
    • 6. The Matrix
The Wachowski Bros. deliver a knockout of a movie. Light years ahead of everything else. This movie is flat out awesome. Easily Keanu's most enjoyable movie even though he was badass in Point Break. I know Kung-Fu.
    • 5. True Romance
Great story written by Quentin Tarrentino before his Pulp Fiction fame. Slater and Arquette are believable as 2 slightly unbalance lovers. Also catch Pitt as a stoner roomate. Clarence and Alabama forever!!!
    • 4. Forrest Gump
Truly fascinating fairy tale of the life of a mentally challenged man. Great soundtrack and Hanks delivers. Stupid is as stupid does.
    • 3. Seven
Great story and plot twists. Freeman and Pitt deliver as detectives and Spacey delivers as the psycho killer. What's in the box?!?!
    • 2. Fight Club
Ultimate male agression movie. Pitt and Norton at their best. The first rule of Fight Club is...
    • 1. Braveheart
Best movie of all time period. Gibson delivers both as the director and lead actor. Great story. Freedom!
There's my list. I'm sure you will probably laught at a lot of my picks, but I'd put this list up against any of these other lists I've been seeing. All I have to say is that any list without Braveheart or Fight Club on it is GARBAGE. Here's a nod to the movies that didn't make my Top 10: Pulp Fiction, Schindler's List, American Beauty, Unforgiven, American Pie, Dumb and Dumber, Tombstone, The Big Lebowski, Blade, American History X, 12 Monkeys, Jerry Macguire, The Shawshank Redemption, Varsity Blues, Rounders, Reservoir Dogs, Kalifornia; Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels; and The Lion King.
