Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter. I don't what is said or what the song is about which is why it is so fantastic.
By: Katie Red
- 10. Sex And Candy by Marcy Playground
I can remember when this song was released...I was in the 6th grade and it was considered a "bad song" probably because it said sex. My friends and I thought it was good, if not a bit trippy and to this day we sing along whenever we hear it. We still know all the words.
- 9. Glycerine by Bush
I know this is on a lot of other top ten lists, but I will probably always remember this song. It is the ultimate make out song, until I realized that it is about a particularly nasty breakup. It is definately one of the best songs that I have ever heard. Ever.
- 8. Criminal by Fiona Apple
I remember the first time that i heard this. I saw the video. I was heavily into pop (the devil's music) and I remember thinking that this was dark and wrong. and that I liked it.
- 7. Dandy Life by Collective Soul
Up until about a year ago, All 10 of these selections would have been by these guys. But then again, I was a fanatic. Any song by this band could be on this list. they rock and this song was Ross's chance to shine (no pun intended) it should have been released. should've would've could've wasn't.
- 6. Ain't that Unusual/Hate This Place..... by Goo Goo Dolls
One of my very Favorite bands. We Are The Normal should've been up there too, but it wouldn't fit. I just saw them live recently and they escaped the ninties and are still kickin ass. JOHN RZEZNIK IS A HOTTIE!!
- 5. Semi Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind
There are so many songs by this band that I can think of. The main reason this song got the main mention is not only because it rocks but also for it's nostalgic value. Always and forever will be regarded by my best friend and myself as the "ode to drugs" since, that is what it is.
- 4. Everything To Everyone by Everclear
A great many everclear songs belong in this spot. This too was one of my introductions into the world of alternative rock. This is my best friend's theme song. Other everclear songs that deserve mention are:Amphetamine, White Men in Black Suits, Normal Like You, Unemployed Boyfriend, Here We Go Again, and Lerning How To Smile, Santa Monica, and Heroin Girl......Hell, all of them should be on here.
- 3. Dammit by blink-182
these guys are great. This was the first song I ever heard by them and still my favorite. Dude Ranch was the best thing these guys put out in the ninties.
- 2. Buddy Holly/Falling For You/The Good Life.... by Weezer
Weezer may very well be my favorite band currently. they really know how to write music. Awesome. there is not much more that I can really say.except for maybe:RIVERS CUOMO IS A HOTTIE!! "I'm shaking at your touch. I like you way too much" also Say it isn't so and undone and in the garage....etc should be on here
- 1. by Soul To Squeeze/anything else
RHCP rocks my socks. I absolutely love just about everything they've done as a band. Their songs remind me of good times. I love soul to squeeze. It used to just be a beautiful song without a memory attached, but now it will forever remind me of the districts speech tournament 2002. "it's bitter baby and it's very sweet i'm on a rollercoaster but I'm on my feet." speaking of Rollercoaster (of Love) that song will always remind me of my friends and the good times we had listening(and dancing) to it. there isn't much I can say about Sir Psycho Sexy, But Liz and Caroline know what i mean. "the time has come and now we jam with the uplift mofo party plan" TUMPP forever.
there aren't enough spaces to put all the bands i wanted to. Smashing Pumpkins, Our Lady Peace, the Cure, Placebo, The Offspring, Modest Mouse, Green Day, Orgy, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Fastball, Foo Fighters, Harvey Danger,Hole the New Radicals, the Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, Matchbox twenty, The Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Garbage, P, and so many others that i would be sitting at this computer typing all night deserve to be on this list. The ninties was a fucking awesome decade for music. good tunes, good times.
