- 5. Unforgiven II by Metallica
This song is so powerful.
- 4. Kim or '97 Bonnie and Clyde by Eminem
Don't think I'm sick for liking these songs. Artistically, they're amazing songs. They are both so blatant and powerful. But very similar themes.
- 3. Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrain
What can I say? Cool, cool, cool!
- 2. World Apart by Jars of Clay
Powerful song, it almost makes me cry.
- 1. Let You Down by Dave Matthews Band
Story of my life.
Honorable mentions? Moby, Radiohead, Our Lady Peace, Dr. Dre, No Doubt, Foreigner, Chicago, Phish, Live, REM, G. Love and Special Sauce
By: Adam Hearsey
- 10. Purple Sneakers by You Am I
Contains one the best drum solos at the end of the track. Very good song by this trio who formed in 1991.
- 9. Fantasy by Mariah Carey
A song that was released when I was at the age, when teenage guys fantasise about girls and vice-versa. Pretty good clip too!
- 8. When I Come Around by Green Day
Just like everyone else, this is the song that had me hooked onto this unique style of punk. The new album is brilliant! I personally don't think Green Day have written a bad song yet!
- 7. Wonderwall by Oasis
Unbelievable love rock ballad. What is a Wonderwall anyway? Timeless, what else can I say?(Sorry I'm biased with 2 Oasis songs!)
- 6. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins
Not a big Pumpkins fan, but this song is great for so many reasons.
- 5. Two Princes by Spin Doctors
Great, simple pop tune!
- 4. Design For Life by Manic Street Preachers
Wonderful tune from the band who paved the way for Welsh music in the 90's. Taken from the album "Everything Must Go"
- 3. Always by Bon Jovi
This was the song that really got me into Bon Jovi way back in 1995. Along with Oasis, they really influenced my current taste in music. Still believe this is the best song they've ever released.
- 2. Why Does It Always Rain On Me? by Travis
After hearing so many songs for the last five years, it was good to hear about something other than happiness, love or sunshine. Brilliant song, even on a rainy day! Album is also best I've heard in a while!
- 1. Live Forever by Oasis
Timeless rock ballad. One of the most important rock releases in Britain for the 90's. Song which I would most probably like to have played at my wedding!
Other songs shortlisted include Driftwood(Travis), A Life Less Ordinary(Ash), Second Solution(Living End),Love Is All Around (Wet Wet Wet), The Sign(Ace of Base), Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana), Big Me(Foo Fighters).

- 10. Scooby Snacks by Fun Loving Criminals
Cool, funky and smooth all rolled into one. Great bass, good lyrics mixed with some sound clips from movies including Pulp Fiction ('Any of you f***ing pigs move and I'll execute every motherf***ing last one of you'). Just awesome.
- 9. We're In This Together Now by Nine Inch Nails
Choosing from the vast array of good NIN songs was tough, but this one shines out. Industrial, heavy, rocking, heavy and uhh heavy. Its not actually all that heavy really, i just couldn't think of anything to describe something which is this good.
- 8. Champagne Supernova by Oasis
I almost forgot about Oasis! Sheesh! Indie Rock.... awesome. My favourite Oasis album is Be Here Now, by the way...
- 7. It's Like That by Run DMC vs Jason Nevins
Rap at its best. I'm not oo much of a rap fan, but the bass beats and the killer lyrics in this song will make you wish you took that break-dancing course in '92....
- 6. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins
If the 90s is remembered for one band, i hope it is the Smashing Pumpkins, and this song shows why.
- 5. Glory Box by Portishead
The lead singer (I don't know her name) has an enchanting voice, and in Glory Box, they've put some very interesting effects over it. The slow, cruisey blues is excellent.
- 4. Killing in the Name by Rage Against The Machine
WHY HAVEN'T I SEEN THIS ON ANYONE ELSES LIST?? What a song! Rage's first big hit was an absolute rip-snorter! This song is a perfect example of the hard-hitting messages of all their songs, singing about redneck KKK people and racist police.
- 3. The Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson
The song which really put Mr Manson on the map, although it is no where even close to his best, is a moshing anthem to which no one who likes any sort of hard rock can pass by.
- 2. Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers
I haven't seen this often in the top 10s, so its about bloody time. Its the only song to which EVERYBODY knows ALL the words to at a party.
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
I know it's getting a cliche for #1 song, but you can't beat Kurt.
As you can see, I like just about every style of music... EXCEPT POP!! Anyone who thinks that the Backstreet Boys, NSync or Britney Spears writes meaningful lyrics have to get your brains examined. They don't know what music is... they just spit out what the record companies tell them to. Listen to some real music like what's on this list.

- 10. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
It's a shame I listen this song last. I feel that they should be ranked higher. Nirvana set the tone for the 90's. So I'll do the same and list this song as #10, setting the tone for the rest of my songs.... ENJOY!
- 9. Dammit by Blink 182
Punk Rock at it's best. Blink 182 is one of my Fav's. These guys are showing modern punk bands how to do it..

Another song that totally kicks butt. My list is dynamic, which means, all these songs could and should be ranked higher... Especially this one.. but oh well..

- 4. Scar Tissue by Red Hot Chili Peppers
My All-time favorite rock group with this late 99 song. I wish this song would be #1 or any of their of songs like Parallel Uni, Bridge, Soul... But I'll be honest, it isn't as good as those songs. Any RHCP songs would be on the top 10 90's.
- 3. Ain't Nuthin But a G Thang by Dr. Dre f. Snoop Dogg
The lone rap song. I used to like rap,and pimp demho's, but then I realized, rap is crap. However, this one song, is my all time favorite rap song.
- 2. Creep by Radiohead
If I were to pick one song to be played over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. This song would be it. The lyrics, rythms, beats, the whole composition of this song makes this number 2 on my list.
- 1. Everlong by Foo Fighters
The emotion, power, attitude, and message this song enfranchises makes this song a classic. The Foo Fighters are guys who want to 'rock out' but the versatility of this song allows it to be a wonderful ballad, if done so.... I get chills down my spine every time this song is played. This song is everlong.
Those one-hit wonder songs were the best... Ruby Soho, Impression that I get, two princess, circles, all by misc alternative bands that we don't see much of nowadays made the 90's... Hats off to all of you guys and sorry, I didn't mention Korn, or Smashing Pumpkins, or W/R Zombie, and other big bands.. they all deserve to be on here!!!
