      this song always makes me think back to when i was in high school, a punk teenager with nothing to lose, i think everyone can relate to this song. is amazing acoustic

      there is no greater reminder to the harsh truth of war than this song, it has a beautiful guitar and just grabs the emoitions and holds on to them through the whole song. i love this song

    the 90's was an amazing time for music with so many diverse cultures of music there is no one way to sum it up

    This was pretty hard. I'll probably think of 100 songs that I also could've put on this list after I submit it. I also like George Michael, but that's more the '80s and I like Sting and Celine Dion a bit.

      subtle yet powerful. i know it's his most popular song, but it is deserving to be.

      virtually unknown outside of the UK, this was one of the first ever tracks to showcase the true british sound, drum n bass.
    • 8. Single (Photek Remix) by Everything But The Girl
      the original was good, but photek turned into a minimalist masterpiece.
    • 7. Rape Me by Nirvana
      there's just something about this song. in utero was just that much better than nevermind.
    • 6. Ascension by Maxwell
      this track hooked me onto the whole neo-soul movement. well this and erykah badu's "on and on"
    • 5. Bullshit by Pharcyde
      one of the most laid back non-instrumental tracks i've ever heard. oh why does hip-hop sound so shite these days?
    • 4. Zero/1979 by Smashing Pumpkins
      i can't seperate these two corgan classics. my way of cheating and getting 11 songs on here.
    • 3. C.R.E.A.M (Cash Rules...) by Wu-Tang Clan
      this is what hip-hop should sound like. grimey without bullshit.
    • 2. Dig This Vibe by DJ Krush
      deceptively simple. pure abstract hip-hop.
    • 1. Born Slippy by Underworld
      frantic and surreal. the true anthem for the electronic massive.

    diversity is the spice of life right? some other tracks that i pained over leaving from the list were Faith No More - Evidence, CJ Bolland - The Prophet, Mobb Deep - Hell On Earth and DJ Shadow - Midnight In A Perfect World.
