Not a big fan of "ballads;" but when one of the pioneers of hard rock and a legend shows soft side I can't help but love it
- 2. Paranoid Android by Radiohead
the ONLY epic song to come out of the nineties to follow the epics of the 70's; it takes you on a roller coaster of emotion
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
not even my favorite nirvana song but an easy choice
Well I got to add Sonic Youth and Weezer although most of you haven't even heard them (other than the radio) because you're a bunch of pop or rap fags. I have yet to find a list on here that doesn't suck. If you like my list or hate it drop me a line at puzzledshoestring@hotmail.com

- 10. Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins
They decided to quit on top. Gotta respect that. My favorite of their outstanding list of songs.
- 9. Alive by Pearl Jam
Eddie Vedder's most personal song on Ten. There are so many good songs on that album that I just chose this one.
- 8. Girlfriend by Matthew Sweet
The most underrated song of the decade.
- 7. Crash into Me by Dave Matthews Band
One of the big wedding songs of the 90's. Funny, it's a song about a peeping tom.
- 6. Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns by Mother Love Bone
A song so cool that Cameron Crowe put it on the soundtrack of two of his movies - Say Anything and Singles. Mother Love Bone would have been a major force in the 90's grunge scene if Andrew Wood didn't die an untimely death. Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament went on to form Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready.
- 5. Old Apartment by BareNaked Ladies
The best of the best musical import from Canada. Would have been higher, but it lost point because BNL allowed Jason Priestley to direct the video.
- 4. You Outta Know by Alanis Morresette
Best jelous, vengeful bitch song of the decade (I mean that in a good way). Proved women can rock out as good as the guys.
- 3. I Stay Away by Alice in Chains
Alice in Chains was one of those bands that burnt out too soon because their lead singer couldn't control his indulgences. The late 90's consistented of unreleased tracks, an unplugged album, and several greatest hits. This is arguably their best song, definitely one of the best videos of the 90s.
- 2. Enter Sandman by Metallica
From the open thudering beat, you knew this song was special. Played on our early childhood fears of going to bed.
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
This song changed music for the 90s. It became the rally cry for Generation X who (at least at the time) were aimless and apathetic about their future. It spoke to a generation.

- 10. Say It Ain't So by Weezer
I love Weezer so choosing their best song is hard but this is probably their best.
- 9. Dammit by Blink-182
This is easily the best written Blink song and easily has the coolest riff. Their best song which is saying a lot.
- 8. Don't Look back in Anger by Oasis
Liam Gallagher is awesome in this song. The beginning of the song and the chorus rule.
- 7. Wonderwall by Oasis
This is probably the best rock and roll love song of the 90's.
- 6. Plush by Stone Temple Pilots
This song absolutely rules. I love it just as much as the top 6 songs but I can't put seven #1 songs. :)
- 5. Rocket by Smashing Pumpkins
Really cool song with lots of distortion and effects and stuff -- Pumpkins at their best.
- 4. Salesmen, Cheats, and Liars by The Lowest of the Low
The Lowest of the Low were an amazing early 90's Canadian indy band that could have been huge (and I mean REALLY huge) but never did because the lead singer didn't want the fame. This song is my favourite but literally all of their songs are amazing. Anybody who likes rock and roll will LOVE this band and if you have the means, download them off of the internet.
- 3. Interstate Lovesong by Stone Temple Pilots
This song as well as Jeremy and Teen Spirit are pretty much equal. It also has the coolest riff ever.
- 2. Jeremy by Pearl Jam
This song about a pre-Columbine type teen has amazing lyrics and is almost as good as Teen Spirit.
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
This song is the greatest rock song ever written and performed. It's just pure rock and roll and that's what it's all about.
There's a whole bunch of other songs that could be on there. Californication, Sweet Home Alabama, Hotel California, Machinehead, just to name a few. And remember, do yourself a huge favour and get a hold of something by the Lowest of the Low. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I can't stress it enough, they are really that good.

- 9. Changes by Tupac
this song got reallllllly popular when 2pac 'died'
- 8. Candle in the Wind by Elton John
does anyone else remember how many people were injured in a stampede when the stores ran out of this single? wow.

oh god...the song that started all the boy band bonanza
- 6. Fantasy by Mariah Carey
Who can resist those high pitched squeals?
- 5. Alive by Pearl Jam
This song will live on forever. Simple as that.
- 4. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Who DOESN'T know this song?
- 3. Barbie Girl by Aqua
It was catchy for a while...
- 2. My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion
Geez this song topped the charts for months.
- 1. The Macarena by Los Del Rio
alright I know it's annoying as hell and everyone is sick of it...BUT you gotta admit that it was a huge hit that got you doing that stupid dance everytime you heard it.
alright this list was hard to make and some of the songs probably made you say "oh god no, not THAT song." but every song on here was pretty influential in the fabulous 90's ;)

- 5. Cant touch this by MC hammer
yeah umm This song was played for so damn long.
- 4. Black or White by Michael Jackson
was a very contraversial video of him beating cars up.
- 3. hit `em up by 2pac
Started west coast/east coast tension
- 2. Dre Day by Dr Dre
Started the whole gangsta Rap scene.
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
