• 10. Street Spirit by Radiohead
  Well to be honest you can't have a top 10 of the 90's without Radiohead. "1000 houses...." this is another depressing, sensitive one. As are most of these I guess but then that's just what I'm like!
• 9. A Design For Life by Manics
  OK so obviously the stuff with Richey Edwards was a lot better, but this is still a brilliant song, and all credit to the band for getting such a high chart entry (no. 2) and for carrying on after he disappeared (what would my life have been like if they'd split up before I got into them??). "I wish I had a bottle righ here in my dirty face to wear the scars to show from where I came".
• 8. Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers
  Yet another weepy one. Spoiled a little perhaps by the god-awful All Saints cover but still lovely. "At least I have her love, the city she loves me".
• 7. La Tristesse Durera by Manics
  With quite possibly the catchiest bass-line of the 90's? This also makes me cry. "I am just a fashion accessory". Oh but it's so true...sniff...
• 6. Losing My Religion by REM
  "Oh no I said too much, I haven't said enough". Really, really lovely. Just beautiful. It makes me cry. Love it.
• 5. Little Baby Nothing by Manics ft. Traci Lords
  Oh yes, another Manics one. Well what can I say? A classic. The line "If I'm starving you can feed me lollipops" would account for my Chuppa-Chups addiction!
• 4. Northern Star by Hole
  Again an obscure choice for the best song by a band, I really love this song. Not in any way associated with the Melanie C song of the same name (blimmin' cheek...)! "He's so cold, he will rule the world tonight, all the angels kneeling to the frozen lights". Courtney Love is one cool laydee.
• 3. Motown Junk by Manics
  Woohoo! Dress up in leopardskin and eyeliner and jump around the room!! "I laughed when Lennon got shot!!"
• 2. Radio-Freindly Unit Shifter by Nirvana
  Everyone flips when I say this is my favourite Nirvana song, but "I love you for what I am not, I do not want what I have got" is one of the best lyrics ever written. Also the bit about "Save, save your enemies..." is great. Actually the whole of the In Utero album deserves a mention.
• 1. She is suffering by Manic Street Preachers
  The most beautiful song by the most beautiful band ever? I don't know...I'm gonna have to limit myself to only 5 Manics songs in this list or it would all be by them!! (OK I'm obsessive..."Beauty is such a terrible thing")

Well OK this is not a very accurate/all-inclusive list but for me the 90's were really just about one band. Pity I'm kinda young so I only discovered music as a whole in about '97. I don't really need to say which band I mean, do I?! Stay beautiful.
