A great song for suburban white guys. An awesome punk band also.
- 9. Dave Matthews Band by Satellite
An original song by the biggest cult following band of the 90s.
- 8. Dammit by Blink 182
Classic song about the queerness of teenage life.
- 7. Jeremy by Pearl Jam
Good song about a troubled kid.
- 6. Champagne Supernova by Oasis
Long song that sounds like a top ten song.
- 5. What I Got by Sublime
Great feel-good song by some feel good guys.
- 4. Radiohead by Creep
Simply greatest song by a great 90s alt band.
- 3. Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang or Cypress Hill, not sure which one
Simply my fav. rap or hip hop song.
- 2. Longview by Green Day
Most punkers may say that it destroyed punk rock, but it is a really great song.
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Single most influencial song to affect music in this decade.
By: Ryan
- 10. All Apologies by Nirvana
Smells like teen spirit may be popular, but Nirvana's greatest contribution was actually this Nevermind track.
- 9. 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins
We may all publicly hate Billy's voice and secretly love it, but 1979 was his greatest triumph, found on Melon Collie and Infinite Sadness.
- 8. Crash by Dave Matthews Band
Not to be trendy, but I had to put DMB on because of their influence on acoustic music. I hate people who claim to have "followed Dave since the beginning." Crash defined two years of pop music after its release.
- 7. Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
A toss-up between Fake Plastic and Street Spirit (Fade out). Either way, Radiohead really started in The Bends with these two tracks.
- 6. Jeremy by Pearl Jam
I hate Pearl Jam. I wish I didn't have to acknowledge this.
- 5. Iris by The GooGoo Dolls
Except for the bad movie, this song was produced perfectly. Too bad they had no other songs. Poor Johnny Reeznik split the band.
- 4. Sfevn-G-Englar by Sigur Ros
If you haven't heard of Sigur Ros, you're living under a rock. Unfortunately, too many people have heard and they're getting big. Commercialized. Publicized. Yet another triumph of mass record labels.
- 3. Lover, you should have come over by Jeff Buckley
Amazing lyrics, perfect chords. This man was a god. except he drowned.
- 2. Paranoid Android by Radiohead
1997 saw the release of the most influential album in the 90s - Radiohead's O.K. Computer. This album is STILL defining music in Europe and the states.
- 1. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley
It doesn't matter if it's a cover of a bad Leonard Cohen song. He makes this song defining and transcendant.

By: Dennis O'Neil
- 10. Longview by Green Day
A song that nailed a generation of kids staying home on friday night listening to songs like this sans girlfriend , people who care , with only masturbation to make things better . Give it up for Green Day , they define us .
- 9. You Oughta Know by Alanis Morrissette
Female empowerment to the max , and it kicks ass .
- 8. Mr. Jones by Counting Crows
"Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky but when everybody loves you , oh son , that's just about as funky as you can be." Hear the words , that's all I'm sayin , and you'll see where I'm comin from .
- 7. Fitter Happier by Radiohead
Off of the best album of the nineties , OK Computer , the Pink Floyd of this generation got the hungry edge with this monotonous trudge through the daily routine of a disgusted urbanite . Borders on self parody , but is altogether effective because it makes you think .
- 6. Champagne Supernova by Oasis
Doesn't get much better than this song as far as I am concerned . There is nothing like mimicking Liam Gallagher's voice while throwing down on air guitar to the sounds of Noel's licks . It just doesn't get much better that this song , no matter how abstract the lyrics are .
- 5. Loser by Beck
Just an all out funky , mesmerizingly self-parodying opus of irreverence . Beck is the man , and his style in the early nineties was a breath of fresh air to most people . He always has been an artist of the highest regard , and as far as I am concerned , always will be .
- 4. Pearl Jam by Jeremy
Not my favorite Pearl Jam song , that changes a lot , but still their most important . Was basically a precursor for something that would happen later on in the decade at Columbine , and is so powerful that I never get tired of singing along to it , it is just that damn good .
- 3. One Headlight by The Wallflowers
Still one of my favorite songs of all time . It just sounds so good , has significant lyrical content , and has that edge that pushes it forward into greatness .
- 2. November Rain by Guns N Roses
One of the greatest ballads ever written , a song that just flows like an ode to a fallen lover and then just explodes into sonic mayhem and kicks all of our asses . I don't even need to bring up the video .
- 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Was there ever a doubt in anyone's mind ? I mean come on .
Oh yeah 11.Live-Lightning Crashes 12. STP- Interstate Love Song 13. RHCP-Under the Bridge 14. REM-Losing my Religion 15. Melissa Etheridge-Come to my Window 16.Rage Against the Machine-Freedom -Anyone I may be forgetting , sorry
