Hypnotic vocals, soothing music and heartfelt lyrics. Had to be in the Top 10.
- 9. Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry
Another catchy song that probably defines 90s pop/rock pretty well. One of the most memorable guitar riffs around.
- 8. Children by Robert Miles
A wonderfully soothing piece of musical display. The one song that got me into the trance/dance scene.
- 7. Counting Blue Cars by Dishwalla
Great, catchy song from a relatively unheard-of band. Their other songs are pretty good too.
- 6. Turn the Page by Metallica
This is simply an amazing cover of the classic song by Bob Seger. If only we could hear more like this from Metallica.
- 5. Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden
I'm not really into love songs by high pitched guys, but this song really struck a cord in me. Go figure.
- 4. Zombie by The Cranberries
Simply haunting performance here by a yet another great Irish band.
- 3. With Arms Wide Open by Creed
This was a soaring piece and a breath of fresh air into the alt. rock scene.
- 2. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Arguable the best rock song of the decade (if not more). Mr. Cobain will always be remembered for this masterpiece performance in rock.
- 1. Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
An incredibly powerful song that will truly stand the test of time. Features great vocals and one of the most memorable minute and half of music towards the end.
There are numerous other great songs that I've failed to iclude. Titles that are worth a mention are "Losing My Religion" by REM, "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia, some other songs by Goo Goo Dolls, etc. The 90s was a good time for music indeed.
