    K that was hard picking out 10 songs but OK I got some more....Sublime-Carress Me Down, Santeria, April 26th 1992...Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Spirit,All Apologies, Come As You Are. Smashing Pumpkins- 1979, today, Bullet with Butterfly Wings.Oasis-Champagne Supernova, Dont Look Back In Anger. Green Day- Basket Case, Brainstew, Minority, Good Riddance. Blind Melon- No Rain! 311- Amber, Down, All Mixed Up, Purpose! Here are some more bands- Soundgarden, Our Lady Peace, Everclear, Pearl Jam, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and Metallica!       Written by Bruce Robinson, McGraw does it nicely. If you can, check out the version Robinson does with his wife Kelly Willis...pretty good too.

      This band is no longer around, but they had two great records. This song is abou the singer's sister, who died of cancer. Mostly mistaken for a break up song.

      Yet another great band that gets little attention. Rent the DVD, I AM TRYING TO BREAK YOUR HEART, for a good feel for this band.

      The most underrated band of the 90's.
    • 4. Lightning Crashes by Live
      Makes me think of my daughters birth. Fantastic song.
    • 3. Lost Cause by Beck
      Great acoustic song. He's an eclectic artist, getting better with time.

    • 1. Let The Bad Times Roll by Paul Westerberg
      Fantastic song by an aging "thrash punk". Westerberg fronted the Replacements, he still does great work.

      anger and rage sometimes make good songs.... very powerful.

      It's not one of their singles, but its a truly incredible song. Moving, emotional, symbolic - perfect.
    • 4. Losing My Religion by R.E.M.
      This is an incredible song. it could mean anything. lol very good and very deep.
    • 3. I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys
      w/e u think about boy bands doens't matter cuz this song is great.
    • 2. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
      i love this song! it so good and has a lot of versitility. very catchy... (in a non-pop way)

      Great song.....incredibly sweet and full of raw emotion.

    there are alot of song i woulda put on here buth there wasnt room. Songs like "Take A Bow", "Swear It Again", "Ghetto Superstar", "Don't Speak", "Jump Around", n stuff like "the College Song" by Blink182 n stuff by creed n BsB.

      As 90s alternative as you can get.
    • 3. Let Her Cry by Hootie & The Blowfish
      This song makes -me- cry.
    • 2. Mr. Jones by Counting Crows
      This song always makes me think about driving around and listening to the radio.
    • 1. When I Come Around by Green Day
      Basically, everytime I hear Green Day I think of the 90s.

      This song is f***ing great. The counting crows are truly talented and this is a fine example of their abilities. If you have never listened to this song then you really should. IT is the BEST.

      Eddie Vedder is AMAZING. This c.d., Ten, is one of the best c.d.s in the world. This song is so great and ver vivid.

      This song is great, even though many things she describes in the song are not ironic. Yet, everyone loved this song and knew it by heart. Isn't it ironic?
    • 7. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
      You cannot have a list of definitive songs from the 90's without including Nirvana. That band is probably one of the best of our lives.
    • 6. The Sign by Ace of Base
      One of the few things to come from Sweden, and boy are we glad they came.
    • 5. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins
      What can you say about this band? Wow is all I can say, and this song is one of their best.
    • 4. Spiderwebs by No Doubt

      This band is one of the greatest of our time. This was the first song I ever heard by them and I have loved them ever since.
    • 2. Everybody Hurts by Rem
      This song is very touching and it has very deep ties to me.
    • 1. New Age Girl by Dada
      This song is great, I love it.

    I have soooooooo many other songs that I love from the 90's. A few of the other contenders for the top ten are Breakfast at Tiffany's, Hold On, Waterfalls, Bittersweet Symphony, Under the Bridge, Buddy Holly, Crash, and there are too many more to name. The 90's rocked, almost as much as the 80's.
