another great tune of the continual search for self... hey man this is my list...
    • 9. River Of Deceit by Mad Season
pedigry...how about alice in chains, screaming trees, pearl jam... another pseudo trib (by accident) talented musicians doing talented songs...
    • 8. Summertime by Will Smith...aka Dj Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Princ
just a feel good groove that perfectly describes the innocence of summer
    • 7. The Old Apartment by Bare Naked Ladies
gotta love canucks... you can jam and have thoughtful fun lyrics
    • 6. Gone Away by The Offspring

    • 5. Basket Case by Green Day
another triumph for angry white boy music
    • 4. Say It Ain't So by Weezer
the whole blue album qualifies... atypical example of the faith in the garage band
    • 3. Jane Says by Janes Addiction
just a beautiful song of battling personal demons
    • 2. Hunger Strike by Temple Of The Dog
pedigry you ask? how about soundgarden, pearl jam and mother love bone... a top 10 list by themselves
    • 1. Everlong by Foo Fighters
unequivocally their best... dave is best when unshackled of his nirvana past...

In viewing other listings I wonder, did (some of) these people reside in the same 90's I did? to qualify (and hopefully not date) myself, I graduated high school and college in the early/mid 90's... I fully realize their is a gendre and gender bent to my listings... standby for femme list and a completely reconciled list to follow... if you care

celine dion, just sucks along with ace of base, jewel, creed, and any softer music. let's face it, the 90s were dominated by grunge, and the heavier side of rock, as shown by Metallica, and our list, YOU ARE THE ONE'S WHO ARE THE BALL LICKERS. we're gonna shit, then make you eat our shit, then shit out your shit, and make you eat the shit that you shit out that's made up of our shit.

    • 10. The Impression That I Get by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
One hit wonder...sure...but what a hit!

The only guilty pleasure on the list (with the possible exception of song #7) and it's just a great song to listen to.
    • 7. Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve
I'm not sure whether or not this song has been so played out that it has lost all meaning, but it still holds some value for me. It's not subtle, but it's a powerful ballad.
    • 6. Carousel by Blink 182
I had a hard time finding a place for this song on the list...it's not a masterpiece, it doesn't have a great subject matter...but I love the song...it's constructed beautifully and just quite simply works on a level transceding punk music.

Hard to pick which song, but the biggest is most probably the best...Nirvana was an amazing band and their sound was like no other.
    • 3. Paranoid Android by Radiohead
Creep is easier to relate to (for some of us), but this is a musical masterpiece...amazingly constructed...the 90s version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
    • 2. Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins
I wish I could put the whole Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness album on here, but this song will do. The Pumpkins have the best lyrics of all the 90s, maybe more...
    • 1. Adam's Song by Blink 182
An odd mix of depression and power ballad. An amazing song that hasn't yet worn out it's welcome.

Red Hot Chili Peppers deserve to be mentioned here and The Smashing Pumpkins really should have taken away spots from House of Pain and the Bosstones, but what're ya gonna do? ITS FINISHED NOW!!!
