- 10. Mayonaise by Smashing Pumpkins
it only took me 10 years to ignore Corgan's whine and listen to the music.
- 9. Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode
probably the first decent single of the 90's, and still one of the few songs I can listen to over and over and not tire of
- 8. Song 2 by Blur
completely took the piss out of grunge with this one, and wouldn't you know it? their biggest american hit!
- 7. Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana
as hyped as teen spirit was, this remains my favorite nirvana song. one of cobain's angriest songs with a video that makes him look almost happy. amazing.
- 6. Alive by Pearl Jam
featuring the second best guitar solo of the 90's. vedder hasn't written a better hook since.
- 5. Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers
amazing how such a mediocre overhyped band can have such a stunning song
- 4. Everlong by Foo Fighters
grohl will never top this one
- 3. Black Metallic by Catherine Wheel
THE best guitar solo of the 90's. never heard it? give it a try...it takes you to a different world
- 2. Live Forever by Oasis
yearning for immortality....oasis' first american single remains their best
- 1. Creep by Radiohead
as far as edgy pop songs are concerned, it'll be hard for anyone to top this. those infamous guitar crunches are living proof that the best moments in music are often the spontaneous ones
This is the Anti-Teen-Spirit list. Since it's basically a given that Teen Spirit is the uncontested #1 song of the decade (it's almost blasphemous to say otherwise), I'm ignoring it completely. Consider that song #0 on my list.
