Beautiful!!
- 9. She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy by Kenny Chesney
I'm so serious! This song is so fun, it's hard not to like it. I love Kenny Chesney, so he had to be the country part of my top ten.
- 8. Electrical Storm by U2
I'm not sure if this song is from the '90's or not. It's on the "Best of 1990-2000" CD, so it may be from 2000. Even so, this is a great song about two lovers trying to clear the air. I love U2!!
- 7. Run by Collective Soul
- 6. Hang by Matchbox 20
Beautiful music.
- 5. Breathing by Lifehouse
Beautiful lyrics!
- 4. Sail Away by David Gray
Tied for #4 are "Please Forgive Me", "My Oh My", and "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" all by David Gray. He's my hero! If you've never heard David Gray, give his "White Ladder" CD a listen. Very soothing.
- 3. Lightning Crashes by Live
Another amazing Live song. (I love Live)
- 2. Dance With You by Live
"Dance With You" is an unplayed song, but if you've never heard it, YOU MUST DOWNLOAD IT! The song is absolutely beautiful. I have to say that, far and wide, this song is the most incredible song I've ever heard.
- 1. One by U2
This song is my all-time favorite. It is absolutely amazing.
If I could, I'd also like to add "Criminal" by Fiona Apple, "LA Song" by Beth Hart, "Land of Confusion" by Phil Collins (unless that's '80's), and "Pepper" by the Butthole Surfers. The '90's had some really great music, especially 1999.

- 10. The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails
Errr.....just turn it up, lie back...and wait for the solo. Nothing will never be the same again.
- 9. Teardrop by Massive Attack
Trip-Hop. This is Massive Attack's finest hour. Mesmeric.
- 8. Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Just a great, great track. The brooding melody, awesome lyrics...indicative of the album in that it simply defines 'cool'.
- 7. Three Libras by A Perfect Circle
Like Tool, but to less of an extent...this is generally music that requires plenty of attention before you reap the full rewards...but when you do, they are indeed fruitful. Three Libras is genuinely awesome. A truly masterful 3 and a half minutes of music excellence.
- 6. Nutshell by Alice In Chains
A very simple, acoustic track from their 1994 'Jar of Flies' album...which was a huge departure from the metal/grunge stuff they'd written prior. This song more than any other gives me perspective. I will always marvel at the way Layne and Jerry were able to take the most intense and depressing of issues....and make beautiful songs out of them. 'And yet I find, repeating in my head...if I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead'.
- 5. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins
Unique. I could use a number of superlatives (and my tendency to exagerrate is only just beginning)...) to describe the sound of this song but the most important reason it's up here in the top 5 is because there's nothing else like it.
- 4. In My Tree by Pearl Jam
The group has produced so much fantastic work and they don't come much better than this masterpiece off 1996's much under-rated 'No Code'. One of those unique songs that gives you a sacredly cool feeling that you don't know how to explain which therefore makes it all the more personal because only you'll ever know how it makes you feel. Yeah. I f*ckin rate this song so much. The album version is the best, though they've been known to change it live. 'Up here so high the sky I scrape'
- 3. Soma by Smashing Pumpkins
Billy Corgan is a true genius and there may never be another band like this... Soma is typical Pumpkins - Beautiful distortion. That's all I can say...the build up is sublime...and then, one of the most earth shattering, soul wrenching solos you'll ever hear. Turn it up. Loud.
- 2. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Whether or not it's overplayed is irrelevant. This is one of the greatest songs ever written. No need to describe why this rocks, because everyone knows the deal.
- 1. Black by Pearl Jam
I don't possess the vocabulary to do this song justice. From the album 'Ten', check out their mtv unplugged version from 1992. Greatest - THING - Ever. 'And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was everything.' 'I know some day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star...In somebody else's sky, but why, but why, why can't it be mine?'

Pearl Jam created wonderful songs in the 90s and are still at it to this day. This is a beautiful, amazing song. By far the best ever Pearl Jam song, about loving someone who loves another.
- 1. Come As You Are by Nirvana
Kurt Cobain was the King of grunge and Nirvana was the biggest impact on alternative music. This song is about being yourself, and I think that's what the 90s was all about.
Honourable mentions: Waiting Room by Fugazi, Losing My Religion by REM, Where Is My Mind by The Pixies, and Don't Speak by No Doubt.
