A social commentary on the status of the two races in America by Tupac Shakur, and one that echoes rhythmically and melodiously, but chillingly, to this very day.
- 9. Higher by Creed
Another late 90's group, Creed's harmonious hard rock became a favorite, especially in 1999. Higher was their megahit single, still played today.
- 8. I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith
When Armaggeddon came out, this was all you'd hear on the radio. This, and the Goo Goo Dolls song, "Iris," from the movie City of Angels. This song handed Aerosmith and Steven Tyler's vocals down to a new generation.
- 7. Nookie by Limp Bizkit
Inspired a generation of rapcore and nu-metal artists during the early part of the first decade of the 21st century - Linkin Park, Trust Company...their styles were offshoots of the Limp Bizkit sound.

Incredible epic Pearl Jam tune...it's Eddie Vedder at his best throughout.

You couldn't listen to the radio for an hour without hearing this one...amazing tune.
With apologies to the Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Joan Osborne (Remember the buzz when her single "One of Us" was released?), and several others, this is the final list. Boy bands (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, etc.) were not included because they were hardly influential or memorable, just a passing phase. Hope you enjoy it.
